Maybe!
You never truly know if your timing is perfect until the sale is complete.
Often, life circumstances dictate when you need to sell—whether it’s a job change, a new opportunity, or a personal transition. In those cases, you work with the current market conditions, good or bad, and move forward.
But if you have the flexibility to plan your sale, timing can make a difference—especially in Boston.
🏡 Why Spring Is Prime Time
In Boston, and particularly in South Boston, the Spring market tends to favor sellers. While condo inventory typically peaks in June and again in October, listing earlier in the season can give you a strategic advantage.
Many first-time buyers in South Boston are trying to transition from renting to owning—and they’re often looking to avoid renewing leases that start on September 1st. That urgency drives buyer activity in the first half of the year, especially in April and May, when most offers are made and closings happen in June.
An old adage in Boston real estate says:
“The Spring market doesn’t begin until after Easter.”
This year, Easter falls on April 20, 2025, so expect activity to ramp up shortly after.
📉 Don’t Try to Predict the Market
It’s tempting to wait for the “perfect” moment. But markets are unpredictable.
- What if you sell now and prices rise?
- What if you wait and prices drop?
Instead of trying to time the market, focus on your goals, timeline, and what you can control.
